Frontier Configuration

In a Scout-Frontier configuration, Frontier sits between a Scout LAN and the WAN, serving as the gateway for messages that traverse the WAN. The illustration below depicts Frontier enabled at three sites: two fully deployed Scout sites and a Scout console-only site. Drivers Graphtec USB devices.

A fully deployed Scout site features all components of the Scout system, including Frontier, on its own local area network (LAN). A Scout console site, also on its own LAN, operates with the minimum Scout system components. Site 3 below is a Scout console site with simply Frontier and Scout consoles.

Site 3 does not have a local VPGate nor local endpoints and is configured to get endpoints from both Scout sites across the WAN via Frontier.

Scout Frontier does not support auxiliary input/output endpoints including VoIP endpoints with any auxiliary input/output driver, or Supervisor Takeover.

Localhost Console Configuration

• Site 1 – Fully deployed Scout Frontier site with VPGate hosting local endpoints
• Site 2 – A Scout console-only site where three local Scout consoles communicate via multicast with the local Frontier to register endpoints from Site 1
• Site 3 – A localhost console where the Scout console and Frontier reside on the same computer and communicate with one another via the localhost ports; the localhost console registers its endpoints from Site 1

• The Frontier-Scout console localhost configuration is available beginning with Scout Version 3.4.
• Frontier is approved for use on MOTOTRBO™ Connect Plus and Multi-Site Capacity Plus in localhost console deployments with a single multicast domain only. Frontier is not currently approved on MOTOTRBO™ Connect Plus and Multi-Site Capacity Plus with any of the multi-site console system deployments described.
